![]() | Athena Bourka received her diploma on electrical and computer engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 1996. In 2002 she received from NTUA her PhD on information security. For the period 1996-2003 she worked in several European research projects on distributed information systems and acted as scientific personnel of the Ministry of the Environment of Greece. Between 1999–2002 she also worked in a number of research programs of NTUA for the security of information systems and networks. For the period 2004-2013 she was employed in the Auditors Department of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (HDPA) in the area of privacy and security of information systems and new technologies. During that time she was seconded twice as a National Expert on IT privacy and security to the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS). Between 2009-2013 she acted as sector co-ordinator for the IT privacy and security Office of the HDPA. In January 2014 she joined the European Network and Information Security Agency’s (ENISA) team on privacy and trust. |
